The Morning Of Surgery: How To Prepare Yourself For Your Breast Augmentation Procedure

If you are having breast implants put in, you are probably feeling pretty excited about your procedure. Properly preparing can involve avoiding certain medications in the weeks before your surgery and going in for multiple consultations with your surgeon. However, there are still things that you can do on the morning of your surgery to ensure that you are properly prepared. These are some of these things.

Dress the Part

You will be spending quite a bit of time with your surgeon on the day of your procedure, so make sure that you are dressed comfortably. It's advised to wear loose-fitting, comfortable clothing that won't bind up or otherwise make you uncomfortable. Many surgeons advise that you wear a top that zips up and down to make access to the breast area easier. If you do not have a top that zips up and down, a shirt with snap-on buttons or a zippered sweatshirt should do the trick, but avoid wearing anything underneath so that your surgeon is able to access the surgical site easily.

Skip the Morning Beauty Routine

Although you will probably want to be cleanly showered, you will probably want to skip the rest of your morning beauty routine. Many surgeons recommend that you skip the makeup, and most would prefer that you not wear strong-smelling perfumes or other scented products.

Double-Check Your Plans

You will not be able to drive yourself home after surgery. Double-check your plans to ensure that you have reliable transportation to and from the surgical site. Also, go ahead and take care of any household tasks that you will need to do; you probably won't feel up to doing much on the first day of your surgery, so it's best to get these things out of the way first.

Skip Breakfast

As with most surgeries that require anesthesia, your doctor will probably tell you not to eat or drink anything after midnight the night before your surgery. Make sure that you abide by this rule to ensure that there are no complications with your medication.

Having a breast augmentation procedure done shouldn't be a big deal if you opt for the right surgeon. However, making sure that you prepare yourself properly -- even on the morning of the surgery -- can help you ensure that it goes as well as possible. These are a few things that you should focus on the morning of your procedure before you arrive at the surgical center. To find out more, speak with someone like Dinu Mistry, MD.
